In recent years, many attempts have been focused on high strength spring steels to meet the need of weight and cost savings in automotive industry. Enhancing the mechanical properties of spring steels can be achieved through the control of alloy composition, heat treatment routes, thermo-mechanical treatments and also shot-peening process. In this study, the microstructural features affecting the of fatigue property of 51CrV4 alloy were characterized starting from raw material to the final spring product.
